Otto Zapf was a German industrial designer and entrepreneur. Zapf formed a congenial duo with Dieter Rams in the 1960s. As co-founder of the furniture manufacturer Vitsoe, he was responsible for several groundbreaking designs in post-war German design.

Otto Zapf’s own designs are characterized by the absence of sharp edges (quote from Otto Zapf: “Because I have never discovered sharp edges on any person, I no longer want to believe that the objects we surround ourselves with must have sharp edges”).
