A beautiful Danish secretary desk (chatol), originally sold through the well-known Edmund Jørgensen Furniture store, founded in 1942 in the south of Denmark.
This is a mid-century marquetry cylinder desk, veneered in richly patterned wood, with delicate inlay work (intarsia) featuring floral and leafy motifs. The roll-top front opens to reveal small drawers and compartments – ideal for storing letters, keys, or everyday essentials. Below are three spacious drawers, all with original cast brass handles and working locks.
The key is included, and everything functions as it should.
The desk stands on a sturdy base with elegant cabriole legs, giving it a soft and graceful silhouette. It’s a compact piece that would work beautifully in a hallway, guest room, or reading nook – anywhere you want a refined and classic atmosphere with a touch of charm.
The lacquered surface is still glossy and vibrant. There are a few light scratches from age and use (see photos), but these are only visible up close and do not affect the overall look in everyday use.
A truly lovely little piece in excellent condition.
Key included.
